Delaware’s latest self-storage facility recently opened its doors with a ribbon cutting on June 25, 2024.

The facility is on the west side of Delaware, Ohio, adjacent to the Fire Station along Ohio 37.

The facility includes 164 climate-controlled and 168 non-climate-controlled units. Additionally, there are 46 drive-up garages and 20 covered spaces for RV and boat storage, bringing the facility’s total capacity to 416 units.

The facility is owned by T&R Properties and is operated by Cubesmart. A basic Google search for “self-storage Delaware Ohio” returned twenty locations within a reasonable distance for residents to choose from.

According to an article in the Delaware Gazette, the location had previously been proposed for a new Family Dollar store in 2012. Due to city concerns about the traffic and location, T&R went to the drawing board and it appears the city was pleased with the final product.

“I believe this is a very good example of the (Planned Mixed-Use) policy device being used in a way that preserves a significant amount of trees, whereas that may not be the case with just a pure B-1 9 (zoned) commercial operation such as the Family Dollar that you talked about before.”
