Delaware Hosting Kit Home Tour
Did you know that a century ago you could just order a home from a catalog?
Delaware, Ohio, is home to many of these kit homes and will host a Kit Home Tour on June 8 from 1-4 p.m. The self-guided tour will highlight six kit homes and two artifact stops along the way.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on event day. Tickets can be purchased online at https://givebutter.com/kithometour or the Delaware Antique Mall. Tickets sold on the day of the event will be at Boardman Arts Park. This is a fundraiser to support two great Delaware non-profits – the Boardman Arts Park and Delaware County Historical Society.
Delaware Antique Mall is at 17 West William Street in Delaware, Ohio, while Boardman Arts Park is located at 154 West William Street.
Did you know you still can order a home from a catalog?
While the aurora of the Craftsman homes is very alluring, today’s big-box home improvement stores still offer you the opportunity to purchase a “kit home.”
Everyone from Menards to Home Depot offers a selection of housing options that you can purchase the bundle and have your contractors assemble. Sounds like the good old days.
Who knows maybe in 100 years we’ll be touring Home Depot Tiny House kits.
